Incorporating MIA into the Curriculum of Elementary School

PUBLISHED ON 14. 8. 2026
The Method of instrumental awareness is becoming a separate subject firmly integrated into the curriculum starting in first grade at a growing number of schools. Za Alejí Elementary School in Uherské Hradiště, for example, explains that introducing MIU early in the curriculum “builds the right foundations for life”. MIA helps children develop skills that enable them to learn more effectively across all subjects: attention, planning, precision, and the ability to explain their own process. We appreciate that Za Alejí Elementary School is promoting MIA on social media (video from the first-grade classes), and we thank them for their inspiring presentation at the Moravian-Silesian ATC conference in Ostrava, which outlined the school’s journey from its first after-school club to the systematic integration of MIA into the ecucation plan from first through seventh grade.
