MŠ, ZŠ a SŠ pro sluchově postižené ve Valašském Meziříčí Valašské Meziříčí have been using the Method of Instrumental Awareness systematically and over the long term; last year, Mgr. Kateřina Stančíková presented a report on their positive experiences with MIA and its impact on the development of students’ cognitive and communication skills at the ATC conference.
At the end of June, school teachers Kateřina Stančíková and Marcela Krajčová, together with Principal Alexandra Bahnerová, organized two-hour workshops for groups of students and teachers from high schools for deaf students in Spain, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. The students were very engaged in working with selected pages from the instruments; in their final reflection, they were able to independently identify the benefits of the MIA, particularly in the areas of communication, conceptual understanding, clear expression, perception, motivation, systematic inquiry, and critical thinking.
The lively discussion of various possible solutions was also very valuable, during which the students respected different ways of thinking. We believe that more and more schools and institutions in the Czech Republic and beyond will discover the Method of Instrumental Awareness for themselves.
